Remote Consultation

We have been offering a remote consultation service since 2009, with a focus on providing a consistent physiotherapy service to athletes who were travelling to compete internationally. This experience has proved very relevant for the duration of the Covid-19 pandemic, where we have been able to offer remote consultations to regular and new clients.

Since the start of Covid we have successfully managed patients in New Zealand, France, Teneriffe, Norway, Scotland, Wales, several different parts of England as well as local patients in Sheffield and Derbyshire.

For some patients the extra flexibility, such as splitting a thirty minute session into two separate shorter sessions, is arguably more effective.

If your not sure whether to choose a face to face or remote or remote is more suitable for you then don't hesitate to give us a call and we'll advise.

How does remote physiotherapy work?

Here are some examples of where the Remote Physiotherapy option works well:

  1. Treatment and rehabilitation of long standing overuse injuries. This type of injury rarely gets better with the quick fix that people are often hoping for from hands on intervention. Working remotely we will do an in depth assessment to assess the current state of the injury and then provide a comprehensive plan including managing exercise and loading levels through walking, running, climbing etc and proposing techniques to strengthen the injured tissue and any other tissue that has been deconditioned as a result of the injury.

  2. Injury prevention: We can work with you this winter to ensure your training load is managed at a level that keeps you training consistently, with enough recovery to ensure you maximise the training effect. This will include guidance on strength work to minimise injury risk and we can also assess your running technique and address serious imbalances that may increase injury risk, if any.

  3. Assessment of new injuries: In the last six months we have assessed and diagnosed a wide range of acute injuries from fractures, sprains and strains to back problems and nerve pain. A good initial diagnosis is usually rather helpful in the planning of a swifter, more effective recovery.

  4. Zoom Exercise classes: Sally has been offering a great range of one to one and group classes via Zoom. Individuals and families have been joining her strength and conditioning sessions for rehabilitating runners and many home workers have benefited from her early morning and lunchtime back mobility classes. Sally also offers weekly self-massage and foam rolling classes for runners. This is a great session that guides attendees through a program of muscle loosening which is great for sorting out the after-effects of a typical weekend (or school night) of exercise excess.
